Biography was born in Los Angeles but don't hold that against me. More exactly, I was born in the San Fernando Valley, as was my father and his father before him. While the U.S. Army was invading Cambodia, I was stationed with a nuclear artillery battalion that successfully defended Colorado against counterattack by the North Vietnamese. | "His attention to detail and pride in his work is surpassed only by his willingness to take on another task."Bob Koerber Hall of Fame Marina |
Nuclear artillery is an interesting concept - rockets launched from trucks with warheads bigger than those dropped on Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Our rockets were called Honest John - an incongruous name for nuclear weaponry. Since the rocket's range wasn't much more than 20 miles (a secret I swore never to reveal), our tactical plan was to launch and run like hell.
Following a hermitage in the Mojave Desert and a retreat to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada where I practiced calligraphy and cut firewood for a living, I became a sailor. I taught damage control in San Francisco, delivered sailboats from Hawaii, captained a yacht in Booth Bay, an excursion boat in Maryland, a dive boat in Key Largo, a salvage boat in Fort Lauderdale.
Seventeen years ago I swallowed the anchor and came ashore, initially working for a megayacht marina in Fort Lauderdale, then as Communications Director for a large marine retailer where I built my first commercial web site. Since then I've been continously involved in every aspect of online marketing from web development to search engine marketing.
I now work for Microsoft in their Digital Advertising Solutions as a project manager.
